What is SMT ？

1. Definition:

SMT is the surface mount technology (abbreviation of Surface Mounted Technology),

 which is currently the most popular technology and process in the electronics assembly industry.

Surface Mount Technology (SMT), it is a kind of leadless or short lead surface mount components

| (referred to as SMC/SMD, Chinese called chip components) mounted on a printed circuit board

(Printed C ircuit Board , PCB) or the surface of other substrates, through reflow soldering or dip

soldering and other methods to solder and assemble the circuit assembly technology.

3. SMT parts packaging classification: 

1). Reel type paper tape packaging

Generally chip parts use this packaging method (such as resistance, capacitance, inductance, etc.).

The thickness of the general part is less than 1.0mm, and the thickness of the part does

not exceed the thickness of the paper tape.

2). Reel type plastic bag packaging

Generally used for parts whose thickness is greater than 1.0mm, the thickness of the part exceeds the thickness of the paper tape, and the parts with static electricity> requirements. (Such as bile capacitor, transistor)

3). Plastic pallet packaging

Vacuum packaging is usually used for temperature-sensitive parts.
